Josh Pereira, host - Episode 2

Josh Pereira, here! Your host for Survivor: Bush. So let's get right into it... with Episode 2.

We start off with everyone in Tuscarora making some makeshift bedding from green plants they found. With Daniel in Exile, you can tell that Jay is the slightly unspoken leader of the group helping direct the construction. And then... Jackson.

Words cannot express... A combination between Wintergreen and Dill pickle? I can vouch that these plants did not smell that good. They smelled more like Christmas trees than anyting. But, Jackson seemed to like them.

Tuscarora seemed pretty set though at that point to cast their vote towards Jackson or Paige. At the time, the crew really had no clue who would get the boot.

Then we go to Exile. Daniel and Rhino... two rivals from their past season... working together to find the Hidden Immunity Idol. Now, I don't know how hard the clue was to decipher, but I really thought it was fairly obvious. Rhino tricking Daniel into getting the clue has to be one of my favorite moments. What a sneak! Haha. I love it.

However, going against general Survivor rules... Rhino gets back to Adai and tells every member of his tribe the clue. Whether or not that comes back to haunt him, I can't say. But if it were me out there, I dont know if I would confide in the entire tribe the one clue that could end up saving my ass.

I also like to note how Rhino refused to listen to the suggestions that his tribe provided... Even if it wasn't in the barn Tribal Council, he could have at least considered it.

Then we find out that turns out... the all guy alliance is a farce. The viewer misses out that Zac had this thing planned from the first day they got there. I guess it should have been obvious after both Rhino and Michael weren't told that Kay was the target.

It would be sad to see Rhino go so early, because come on it's Rhino, he makes for some great TV. However, in Survivor... you always gotta watch out for those big threats. I love Michael's sensing the danger... but again, Rhino doesn't listen to him. Come on Rhino! You're charging ahead like a.... Rhino...

Looks like the girls really have the power with Zac as their leader. Maury, Maigan and Veronica are really sitting pretty at this point. Challenges may be a bit harder to win... but are the challenges really that complex to begin with?

For Tuscarora, why even talk strategy. Their whole tribe was dead set on Paige from the second they got there. Having Daniel out there, who Paige openly disliked, doesn't help her case.

I also love the scene where Tuscarora struggles to start a fire, and old veteran Daniel comes in to save the day. Jackson's log cabin thing just didn't work out... poor boy.

Challenge time. Balance beam. One of my favorite challenges involve the art of mental blocking. When we got down to Forrest and Jackson, I really thought it was anyone's match. Forrest just didn't move on that board though. Jackson's height may have been his downfall...

After a Jackson freak out, and an Adai celebration, Tuscarora gets to Tribal and votes off their weakest link, Paige.

An interesting scene that didn't make the final episode, is that an hour before that night's Tribal, Brittany suggested that everyone split the votes for Paige so that she didn't feel as bad for receiving everyone's vote. Really Brit? This is Survivor. Everyone but one of the 16 original people will be voted off. As soon as you start thinking with your heart too much, you get cut. Careful over there.

Anyway, Im done rambling for now. Next episode we'll see how the castaways did after their first night in the wilderness and see who gets voted off next... Keep it real!

Daniel, contestant - Episode 1 Blog

Daniel here with the Tuscarora side of the season. I would also like to first thank Joshua for a second opportunity to be in this unbelievable show. It really is an experience like no other. Going into the second season I was worried that I would become an immediate target considering how far I got the previous year.

Once I got there and just talking outside it seemed like it was a great group of contestants: most everyone seemed really pumped up and excited about getting the game started, the tension grew and grew as we did our pre game interviews and unexpected delay of game on account of Kay’s late arrival, everyone was joking around saying well she’s first to go, if she was to be in my tribe that wouldn’t have been a reasonable cause to vote someone off.

Once on the truck I was just looking around seeing everyone’s excited and yet nervous faces, once again Josh Pereira had control over 16 people’s lives and everyone knew he was loving every minute of it but so was I.

The first challenge for the items and tribe placement was unexpected right off the bat. In my excitement I completely fell out of the truck and onto my stomach, Sarah helped me up and we both just darted off. When I found out we lost the challenge and would be living in the bad campsite, I wasn’t disappointed at all. Roughing the wilderness and the harsh conditions is part of the game and it makes it all the more exciting.

When Tuscarora got to our campsite surprisingly not too many people complained, it was more of a joking matter how grown over our camp was and clearing it out was just as entertaining, from Sarah and Brittany being attacked by ants, Sarah’s legs were completely eaten up, to Jackson throwing weeds into the distance spraying Dillon with dirt.

Once we got everything cleared out we just sat around waiting for the challenge to start not much talk of strategy was afoot except for me setting my sights on Paige and telling Jackson and Jay about it. I knew how alliances had to be formed quick and early but not to make them public.

After talking with several guys about Tribal Council victims-to-be the whole tribe sat around listening to Jackson’s crazy and absurd stories about, Harry the Pirate or his voluntary week long fasting, Jay and I were picking on Jackson to some extent but it was all in good fun, Jackson knows he’s crazy and you have to love him for it.

The challenge was awesome, the rules were a bit confusing, but it was so much fun. Just tackling each other, getting man handled by Zac, watching Rhino give Tuscarora’s girls the ball back, and two unlikely scores by Brittany and Dillon of all people, it was simply a blast. We thought our team was so much stronger physically than Adai and expected to win plenty of challenges.

Seeing Kay go didn’t surprise me, I simply thought it was a mistake since I thought other girls in Adai were weaker, Maigan and Veronica. Kay if it’s any consolation I wouldn’t have voted you off. See you next time.

Rhino, contestant - Epiosde 1 Blog

Hey guys, Rhino here with my first of many weekly blogs concerning Survivor Bush: Hidden Oaks. For starters let me thank Josh Pereira, all those who participated, from the very first castaway to the sole survivor, and the unsung heroes of Survivor Bush, the production crew. Mainly though I would like to thank our fan base for taking the time to let us know how much they cared by watching and leaving comments to cheer or jeer us on.

For starters words cannot explain how excited I was at the start of this season. I know that’s a rather cliché thing to say but it is the god honest truth. While waiting for my pre-game interview I was literally shaking. Apparently I wasn’t the only one with butterflies in my stomach because after carefully observing everyone’s face in the opening sequence of episode one I can tell they felt the same way. As for feelings and emotions enough of that crap! Let’s talk survivor. Upon winning what was deemed “the good campsite” morale in the newly formed Adai tribe was beginning to climb, that was until we got there. The footage from the episode does not do justice as to how much of a jungle that place really was. I guess I was spoiled in the fact that the campsite in season one had been cleared prior to our arrival. Season one was filled with so many B.S. twists I figured that this was a typical Survivor Bushism and was waiting for Josh to tell us something along the lines of “You see there’s a twist, Adai is really the bad camp” as he does that gremlin smile of his and walks away laughing at his new guinea pigs. Quickly we got to work and let me tell you that place was a real Hellhole. Treacherous thorn bushes that would scare off even Bulbasaur ambushed every member of the tribe. Paranoia quickly set in for Forrest and I. As veterans we immediately started to mark targets and strategize. The campsite became a flashback of a second grade recess as sexes split apart. I reached out to my fellow comrades and thus an alliance was formed. Michael was my right hand man, and I made a pact that should I make it to the finals I would take him with me every step of the way.

Okay, start section 3 of the episode and listen to the rules of the water challenge. By that take Josh had explained the rules about 7 times and still no one really understood. Don’t get me wrong J.P. makes a great host but would fail more epically than the Titanic’s maiden voyage if he ever decided to teach Physical Education. Tuscaroora’s girls were clearly better athletes than our girls, who gave us no help during the challenge. Also I made a critical mistake and threw the ball to our girls whilst they were defending. Sure it made me look like a jackass but I laugh every time I watch it. My bad Adai tribe, I guess according to my early game philosophy, the tribe should’ve voted me off first. Tuscaroora made quick work of us in water polo 9000 or whatever that ridiculous challenge is named. Afterwards we headed back to camp demoralized. I recall thinking that we were going to lose every challenge. Even though we had to go to tribal I felt safe. I knew as a competitor the tribe needed to keep my around. What the viewer did not get to see is pre tribal there was some what of a communication breakdown as to who was going to go. Zac informed me that we were going to vote Kay off when the whole time Mike and I thought the tribe was sending of Veronica. Mike never get the memo and cast his vote towards Veronica. This explains the confusion in his face at the end of tribal. Well that’s all I got for y’all this week but please be on the lookout for episode two next Thursday.

Josh Pereira, host - Episode 1 Blog

Josh Pereira, here!

Much like Jeff Probst from CBS' Survivor, I will post a blog every week that deals with our new episode of Survivor Bush: Hidden Oaks. This blog will include insight and other treats! Also check for contestants Daniel and Rhino's blogs coming soon.

Ok. So starting off the season we really didn't know what to expect. We had done a season earlier that year, but bringing in 8 guys and 8 girls most of whom did not know each other... we knew it could get tough.

When we got everyone on that truck though you could tell that everyone was ready to play the game. Some seemed a bit more out of it than others... but ready to play nonetheless.

The first challenge was great for the crew. To see all of our survivors pitted against each other so early was great. Of course, athletic favorite Jay was first to the supplies. The only two castaways of note that didn't retrieve a single item were Zac and Brittany... wonder why? They weren't even the last ones to the pile...

When the tribes were set up I could tell some survivors were a bit uneasy right from the get-go... I guess I would be a tad uneasy if I was put against our veterans from last season that had already proven that they knew how to play the game.

The counting was great as well. Veronica's face showed the emotions perfectly... Everyone I believe at this point was pretty nervous LOL. I know I was. We had a lot to film that day...

Also, for anyone who doubts the authenticity of our show, speak no more. These people really were put out there with barely any supplies and they did sleep out there for 5 straight days. Just talk to them about it... they'll tell you.

Ok, so the castaways get to their camp. I can't tell you how angry I was with Adai's attitude towards their camp. They all complained about not having the good campsite... yeah, ok. I wish they could see the other campsite.

Rhino and Forrest, as veterans would do, start plotting literally when they arrive at camp. I’m filming this and I’m thinking "Oh god, veterans are going to come on too strong too early." But, at that point I really didn’t know how things would go.

Overall, I was impressed at how much Adai came together right away. This was all Rhino's doing really, which just shows how far strong leadership can go. But as Veronica said, "he is a threat" to the rest of the tribe. No one wants anyone to have too much power.

Tuscarora: totally different story. Their veteran, Daniel, took basically no leadership role and neither did their other alpha male, Jay. You could tell that they both wanted to stay under the radar at this point. I don't know if I necessarily agree with that tactic... you can tell that Tuscarora's tribe was a bit more scattered than the other.

However, Adai's strategy consisted of making alliances right away as opposed to Tuscarora's focusing on the weaker link. In Tuscarora, it was obvious even to the crew that Paige and Brittany didn't know exactly what they were doing out there...

And how can you forget Jackson? What a gem, even in the first episode. Throwing dirt on everyone... Praying for no cockroaches... Talking about his friend Harry the Pirate? The contestants and crew alike were astounded. Funny thing about Jackson though is even though he says some weird things every now and then, he's got this charm to him that makes you like him. I hope he sticks around.

The challenge in one word: epic. No one knew what we had in store for them at all. After my unusually long intro, challenge gets started. Girls did absolutely awful... I don’t know what was going on but the ball seemed to not move at all. However, you gotta love Rhino's bonehead move of throwing the ball to the wrong side of the pond resulting in Brittany scoring for Tuscarora. Ouch...

Then next point we get to see the guys. Not much better than the girls really... I was a tad disappointed with this challenge, but I suppose it's harder to maneuver than it looks. That second point was a great series of passes though, all beginning with Jackson spraying Rhino in the face with water... Haha, I don’t think Ive ever been more proud of him. Then when Zac slams Daniel... ouch... that had to have hurt. But Daniel recovered well and two passes later, Dillon scores and Tuscarora wins.

My personal favorite moment of Episode 1 happened next when Daniel chose Rhino for Exile, and Rhino did likewise. Their rivalry in Season One was apparent, and this proved that it would carry on to this season. I love when castaways feel they have a score to settle... Hehe.

When Adai had to figure out who was going next, I had a feeling at who would go but nothing was certain. The "four horsemen" alliance between the guys seemed like it was going to stay strong but they had trouble figuring out which girl was the weakest.

Kay's big mistake... The guys asked her which girl performed the worst in the challenge and instead of selling either Veronica or Maigan or Maury out, she didn't say anything. Baaaad decision, especially when your name is being thrown around.

At Tribal we had a surprise vote for Veronica coming from Michael... what happened with that? Did he not get the memo? I would be pretty weary at that point if no one made sure I knew what the majority was up to...

But we see Kay go. Sad to see, she did try to stay in the game, but I think she did it poorly and didn’t focus on where tribal lines had already been formed. And of course, Rhino saw to it that that happened very early so it would be hard for anyone to cross what he had already started.

For our first episode, at the time, I was feeling great. I knew that this was going to be a good season right from the get-go. Especially coming from people that aren't necessarily fans of Survivor, it was great to see human interaction be the same regardless of experience with the show.

Cannot wait for the next episode, stay posted, and check for new videos! See ya next week for even more shit-talkin on the survivors. ;)
