Daniel, contestant - Episode 1 Blog

Daniel here with the Tuscarora side of the season. I would also like to first thank Joshua for a second opportunity to be in this unbelievable show. It really is an experience like no other. Going into the second season I was worried that I would become an immediate target considering how far I got the previous year.

Once I got there and just talking outside it seemed like it was a great group of contestants: most everyone seemed really pumped up and excited about getting the game started, the tension grew and grew as we did our pre game interviews and unexpected delay of game on account of Kay’s late arrival, everyone was joking around saying well she’s first to go, if she was to be in my tribe that wouldn’t have been a reasonable cause to vote someone off.

Once on the truck I was just looking around seeing everyone’s excited and yet nervous faces, once again Josh Pereira had control over 16 people’s lives and everyone knew he was loving every minute of it but so was I.

The first challenge for the items and tribe placement was unexpected right off the bat. In my excitement I completely fell out of the truck and onto my stomach, Sarah helped me up and we both just darted off. When I found out we lost the challenge and would be living in the bad campsite, I wasn’t disappointed at all. Roughing the wilderness and the harsh conditions is part of the game and it makes it all the more exciting.

When Tuscarora got to our campsite surprisingly not too many people complained, it was more of a joking matter how grown over our camp was and clearing it out was just as entertaining, from Sarah and Brittany being attacked by ants, Sarah’s legs were completely eaten up, to Jackson throwing weeds into the distance spraying Dillon with dirt.

Once we got everything cleared out we just sat around waiting for the challenge to start not much talk of strategy was afoot except for me setting my sights on Paige and telling Jackson and Jay about it. I knew how alliances had to be formed quick and early but not to make them public.

After talking with several guys about Tribal Council victims-to-be the whole tribe sat around listening to Jackson’s crazy and absurd stories about, Harry the Pirate or his voluntary week long fasting, Jay and I were picking on Jackson to some extent but it was all in good fun, Jackson knows he’s crazy and you have to love him for it.

The challenge was awesome, the rules were a bit confusing, but it was so much fun. Just tackling each other, getting man handled by Zac, watching Rhino give Tuscarora’s girls the ball back, and two unlikely scores by Brittany and Dillon of all people, it was simply a blast. We thought our team was so much stronger physically than Adai and expected to win plenty of challenges.

Seeing Kay go didn’t surprise me, I simply thought it was a mistake since I thought other girls in Adai were weaker, Maigan and Veronica. Kay if it’s any consolation I wouldn’t have voted you off. See you next time.
